Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be paid for time at the conference?
Yes. All student employees are scheduled to attend the Employee Development Conference as a regular paid day.

How long will the conference last?
The conference begins at 8:30am. The program involving all staff members will conclude at 1pm. At this time, you will return to your department for lunch and departmental training. Confirm with your manager how long that training is scheduled.

I attended this training day last year. Am I required to attend this year?
Yes. As mentioned above, all staff members are scheduled to attend – both new and returning ASI employees. As a returning employee, this is your opportunity to refresh your knowledge about the organization, meet peers from other departments, and receive more in-depth training about the skills you are receiving by working here. This is more than an orientation day for new employees. The conference has been purposefully planned to be beneficial for all employees.

How will this year’s event be different from past years?
The Employee Development Conference offers an entirely new program plan this year. Following the morning’s introductions by our organization’s leaders, you will attend two breakout sessions focusing on ASI’s Involvement Outcomes. You will have the opportunity to select the sessions that most interest you by registering online. Following these sessions, the group will come back together where you will hear from past ASI employees about their experiences with ASI and how it impacted their college and career experience. The Employee Development Conference will offer a new and exciting program that is sure to offer all attendees an interesting and beneficial morning.

What are the ASI Involvement Outcomes?
