According to Egyptian legend, mankind was created on the potter’s wheel. The wheel has continued to be a part of the story of human civilization up to this very day. While mostly used for utilitarian vessels for the home, thrown forms have also found their place in the conceptual world of contemporary art. This demonstration will highlight basic wheel throwing techniques and how surface decoration can be explored using simple tools and the movement of wheel itself.

It is been said that collage is the perfect expression of the busy modern world we live in. Collage, from the French word to glue, is an assemblage of different forms coming together to create a whole new work of art. Collage became an important part of the modern art scene at the beginning of the 20th century when Pablo Picasso began gluing bits of paper to his oil paintings. It is the freedom to combined found paper, objects, and images to create unique one of kind work of art that makes this art form so rewarding. This workshop will include a demonstration of collage techniques as well as an opportunity for attendees to make their very own work of art.
The TSU invites artists to demonstrate their craft to students at the main and Irvine CSUF student unions. At these events, exposure to art techniques is encouraged by the live demonstration of painting, sculpting, print making, etc. and the interaction between the artist and observers. To learn more about these events or to apply to be hired as a visiting artist, please contact the TSU Gallery Coordinator at (657) 278 - 5869 or tsugallery@fullerton.edu.
