FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY ARE WE EXPANDING THE UNION?
The last time we expanded this building was in 1992. It was built to serve a population of 25,000 students and we are currently at a population of 38,000 students and growing. Simply put, the building is just too small.
THIS LOOKS EXPENSIVE. HAVE MY FEES BEEN RAISED TO PAY FOR THIS PROJECT?
Actually, no! We have not raised student fees at all or asked current students for more money. Every year, each student pays a $134 student body center fee. As the Titan Student Centers Board of Trustees, we saved a tiny piece of that $134 over many years to save up enough money for this project.
IS THE FOOD COURT IN THE TSU CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION?
The food court will be open and not disrupted by the construction. Most of the services offered to students inside the TSU will not be disturbed by the construction. If something does need to be closed, we will inform the student population.
WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THIS PROJECT?
Students! The Titan Student Centers Board of Trustees, a committee made up of students and staff, work with the CSUF Capitol Projects Management Office to keep the project on track. Together we work with the design/build team of PCL (general contractor) and Steinberg (architects).
WHEN WILL THE PROJECT BE COMPLETE?
The project is scheduled to be complete in spring 2017.
