Candidate Biography
Hi Titans! My name is Deniz Suzer, a third-year Public Health major with a minor in Chemistry. During my time at CSUF, I’ve remained actively involved in improving the student experience within the College of Health and Human Development (HHD).
I currently serve on the ASI Board of Directors for HHD and as Audit Chair, working directly with students, college leadership, and campus partners on issues related to academic access, student engagement, and the responsible use of student resources. Serving in these roles has given me a strong understanding of how college-level decisions are made and how student input meaningfully shapes outcomes.
Beyond ASI, I am Co-President of Women in Business and STEM and President of Eta Sigma Gamma, the national honor society for Public Health majors. Through these leadership roles, I have supported student organizations, coordinated collaborative programming, and worked with campus partners to make involvement and opportunities more accessible to students across campus.
Through working closely with students and college leadership, I have built the experience and connections needed to continue strengthening HHD for current and future Titans. I am running for re-election to continue ensuring student voices remain present in the decisions that affect them.

Candidate Statement/Platform

As a college that serves a large number of pre-health, nursing, and graduate students, the College of Health and Human Development faces unique academic and structural challenges. When I first ran for this position, my platform centered on three priorities: Access, Advocacy, and Action. Those priorities continue to guide my work as I focus on strengthening academic pathways, improving communication, and building a more connected HHD community.
Access to required courses and effective advising remains one of the most common concerns among HHD students, especially in high-demand and STEM-related classes. Through my role on the Board, I have worked closely with the Dean and college leadership to elevate student concerns around scheduling, enrollment capacity, and advising availability. We have already begun building clearer systems for communication around class access, and I am committed to continuing this work so students have greater transparency and support when planning their academic paths. This includes continuing collaboration with the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics to help ensure HHD students can access the STEM courses they need. Supporting nursing, graduate, and transfer students navigating competitive and cohort-based programs will remain a key focus of my work.
Advocacy and communication go hand in hand. I will continue working with college leadership to strengthen advising access, improve transparency, and increase awareness of the programs within HHD, including nursing and graduate programs. Clear communication around pathways, requirements, and preparation is especially important for students in competitive programs and helps students make informed decisions and feel supported throughout their time in the college.
Action is essential to building a strong and connected HHD community. This year, I helped establish a large collaborative event with campus partners outside of HHD Week, and I want to continue building on that momentum by making it a recurring fall semester tradition that sets the tone at the beginning of each academic year. Alongside HHD Week, I will continue supporting consistent, inclusive programming throughout the year. I also plan to support the development of a college-wide newsletter created in collaboration with undergraduate and graduate students, along with the continued growth of HHD social media, to highlight student organizations, academic opportunities, and important health-related topics.
Finally, I am committed to improving support for student organizations by strengthening advising and guidance around funding, applications, and planning in partnership with the Inter-Club Council. By improving these processes, clubs will have clearer support and more consistent access to resources, allowing student leaders to focus on engagement and impact.
I am committed to continuing this work with accountability, transparency, and follow-through so HHD remains a college where undergraduate and graduate students feel supported, informed, and connected.
