Candidate for Board of Directors, College of the Arts

Amplifying Voices To Bring Change

Candidate Biography

Hello! My name is Joshua Lopez, and l am currently a graduate student within the College of the Arts.

As a current Board of Directors for COTA, we were able to advocate for students and our community who would be impacted by the weekend parking fee. With the help of other student leaders and campus partners, we were able to reverse those changes, and parking on weekends is once again free!

If elected, this would be my third year serving as one of the representatives of my college. I would be well-versed with ASI and with the Wellness Initiative. This experience will help in ensuring that students receive the support they deserve while not playing catch-up.

It would be an honor to serve this campus for another year, bringing even more improvements to ASI, helping mold the Wellness Initiative, and further developing our facilities like the SRC, TSU, and Food Pantry!

Candidate Statement/Platform

My name is Joshua Lopez, and I am running for the ASI Board of Directors, College of the Arts!

With two years serving as an ASI BOD, I have learned so much about ASI and the roles and responsibilities each BOD has.

As an incumbent, I can hit the ground running as I can be more hands on with the ASI wellness initiative. With two years of experience, I understand how ASI works and how to be an effective advocate for my peers.

Last semester, we brought up the importance and impact our college would experience with the weekend parking payments. With the help of other ASI members, this was officially lifted and parking on weekends is free again!

If elected I hope to continue improvements to the College of the Arts by collaborating with my fellow students and better advocating for their needs. I am currently in the works of providing much needed support to students who experience symptoms similar to carpal tunnel.

It would be an honor to serve this campus for another year, bringing even more improvements to ASI and our facilities like the SRC, TSU, and Food Pantry!
