Candidate Biography
My name is Jennifer Tran, and I am a second-year Urban Learning major with a minor in Urban Studies, and I’m planning on pursuing a minor in Child and Adolescent Studies as well. I am a first-generation undergraduate student (child of immigrant parents from Vietnam). I graduated from Garden Grove High School in 2024 with the CA State Seal of Civic Engagement & CA State Seal of Biliteracy (Spanish). I was a Dean’s List Recipient (3.5+ GPA) for the 2024-2025 academic year and the fall 2025 semester. My campus involvement includes serving as Vice President of the Student California Teachers’ Association, serving as a student assistant in the Dean’s Suite for the College of Education, and being part of Titan Future Teachers (TFT), IamFirst, and Fullerton Finish. Intending to become an elementary educator, I currently mentor at-risk sixth-grade students for the Garden Grove Unified School District to foster motivation, self-efficacy, a growth mindset, and self-regulation, helping ensure that students understand college and career success is attainable for all.
Candidate Statement/Platform
As a representative of the College of Education students, I aim to support these individuals in every aspect, including their professional outlook. Career readiness is crucial for future professionals, as it directly impacts society’s progress. Establishing connections and opportunities (such as student teaching) with the Career Center for both undergraduate and graduate students would allow them to experience the realities of the work environment firsthand, benefiting both our current students and future generations. Additionally, as a representative of the College of Education students, I champion for all students’ well-being. Students from diverse backgrounds face a variety of obstacles and barriers that may hinder them from maximizing and benefiting from their whole educational experience. By supporting student wellness initiatives, such as mental health resources & accessible health services, students can learn and take away the most from their experience at CSUF. Using this position to advance these interests would result in a just, equitable, and inclusive campus climate, key values of the College of Education.
