Savannah Miller

Candidate for Board of Directors, College of Health and Human Development

Candidate Slogan

Savannah Miller: Real Support. Real Representation.

Candidate Biography
Hi everyone! My name is Savannah Miller, and I am a second-year student in the College of Health and Human Development at Cal State Fullerton. I am passionate about student advocacy, wellness, and creating meaningful connections between students and campus resources.
I currently serve as a Community Engagement Commissioner within ASI, where I support student well-being and strengthen campus-community partnerships. In this role, I help plan initiatives focused on student impact. One initiative I helped lead was Tuffy’s Winter of Giving, a campus-wide toy drive that collected over 70 toys for the CSUF Children’s Center. This experience reinforced my belief in student-led advocacy and the importance of meeting community needs through intentional action.

Beyond ASI, I am involved in health and service-focused student organizations and have earned Dean’s List recognition. I am also a licensed phlebotomist with hands-on patient care experience, which has shaped my interest in healthcare and clinical medicine.

Additionally, I serve as the Panhellenic Affairs Vice President for my sorority, where I collaborate with student leaders across campus and strengthen communication between organizations. As a future healthcare professional, I am committed to advocating for CHHD students and ensuring their voices are represented in university decision-making spaces.

Candidate Statement/Platform

As a student in the College of Health and Human Development, I understand the unique pressures our students face. From demanding coursework and fieldwork to balancing personal well-being, these challenges shape our academic experience. I am running for the Board of Directors because I genuinely care about advocating for CHHD students and making sure our voices are represented in university-level decisions. As a Board member, I would bring CHHD student perspectives into conversations around campus policies, resource allocation, and decisions that directly affect our academic and professional experiences.

One of my main priorities is student wellness. CHHD students are often preparing careers centered on caring for others, yet we are not always given enough support to care for ourselves.
Through my work with Associated Students Inc. (ASI), including helping lead initiatives like Tuffy’s Winter of Giving, a campus-wide toy drive supporting the CSUF Children’s Center, I have seen how student-led efforts can create meaningful impact when they focus on real needs. These experiences have also reinforced the importance of ensuring that students who dedicate themselves to helping others are supported in caring for themselves. I hope to continue advocating for accessible mental and physical health resources while supporting initiatives that reduce burnout and promote balance.

I also want to focus on academic and professional support. Many CHHD students juggle internships, clinical hours, or practicum requirements alongside full course loads. As a CHHD student who balances academic excellence with leadership and involvement, I understand how overwhelming these demands can feel. I plan to advocate for clearer communication, increased transparency, and student-centered policies that acknowledge the realities of our programs.

Another priority of mine is making sure CHHD students have a voice. Through my involvement in campus leadership and working across student organizations, I have learned how important collaboration and inclusive decision-making are. Representation means being present, listening to student concerns, and following through with action. At the Board level, this also means speaking up in formal decision-making spaces where student voices may otherwise be overlooked. If elected, I will make it a priority to remain approachable, actively seek feedback, and bring CHHD student perspectives into decision-making spaces.

Overall, my goal is to serve as a reliable advocate who leads with empathy, accountability, and genuine care for students. If elected, I am committed to representing the College of Health and Human Development with integrity and working to ensure that students feel heard, supported, and valued.
