Aaron Vaquero For HHD: Students First, Always
Candidate Biography
My name is Aaron Vaquero and I’m a third-year Kinesiology major. I grew up in Folsom, California with a loud and close-knit family of seven, where my upbringing shaped my appreciation for community and connection. This, along with a severe knee injury prompted my choice to attend CSUF and pursue becoming an Orthopedic Surgeon, while also creating a meaningful impact in people’s lives along the way. During my first year, I joined the Kinesiology Student Association to socialize and connect with peers, which quickly evolved into a passion for student leadership. I’ve since gone on to serve as KSA’s Inter-Club Council Representative and currently hold the positions of KSA President and Chair of the Health and Human Development Inter-Club Council. Through these roles I’ve been able to connect with so many of the students and faculty in HHD who I serve and work beside. Aside from academic leadership, I have spent my time at Fullerton working in the Housing community, starting as an Office Assistant to now working as a Resident Advisor. I believe that healthcare and leadership are always about people at its core and I will continue to serve and connect with students throughout my time at CSUF!
Candidate Statement/Platform
If elected, my goal is to expand the work I’ve already been doing for the College of Health and Human Development and elevate it to the scale that the Board of Directors serves. Many of my current projects focus on increasing our college’s visibility on campus and highlighting the impactful work our students, clubs, and organizations are doing every day. As Chair of the Health and Human Development Inter-Club Council, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the current ASI Board of Directors to host the campus-wide College Mosaic event on Titan Walk. This event allowed us to showcase our college to the broader CSUF community and celebrate the diversity, service, and academic excellence within HHD. As a Board member, I hope to continue supporting and developing events that match the level of work and dedication already happening in our college. This spring, I am also leading the annual HHD Week, an initiative designed to give our students, clubs, and organizations the space to display their work, connect with one another, and engage directly with students across campus. Through the Board of Directors, I would continue to support efforts like this by advocating for resources, visibility, and opportunities that allow student organizations to thrive. Serving on the Board would also allow me to continue being a strong and consistent voice for HHD students within ASI and other campus leadership spaces. I am committed to showing up, listening to concerns, and ensuring that students and organizations within our college feel represented and supported. Through collaboration with other colleges and councils, including the Inter-Club Council, I aim to strengthen cross-campus partnerships and create shared opportunities for engagement. My passion for the College of Health and Human Development comes from my desire to help people. That value would guide all of my efforts as a Board member, as I work to serve students, uplift their voices, and ensure our college continues to be represented with pride and purpose across campus!
