Candidate Biography
Hey Titans! My name is Mia and I am a first-year Sociology major at CSUF who is double minoring in Child and Adolescent Studies and Spanish. Currently, I am a member of the Sociology Department Student Association and is plannig on applying for the CSUF Pre-Law Society and the Child and Adolescent Studies Student Association. A little more about me is that I played the violin in high school for 4 years and I was a part of the International Baccalaureate Program (also known as the IB Diploma Program) for 2 years! Despite being a  violinist and an IB Candidate throughout those 4 years, I would spend my lunch to attend club meetings and help out my community to gain hands-on experiences on the weekends. 4 years later, I still love helping my community out and spending most of my time meeting new people, which I would call “random side quests”. I can be someone who is sympathetic to others around her, passionate about her major and is willing to learn more about what is right in front of her.

 

Candidate Statement/Platform

If I get elected, I will strive to achieve 3 outcomes in this position: I will commit to learn more about other disciplines and specialized fields in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences but also help students within my concentration find internships, explore their concentrations deeply, and make sure to let them know that they can always have someone who can care about them during their journey of working on their degree. I will continue my leadership skills just like I have been doing in high school for the past four years with the extension of my advocate skills. I will strongly represent as a Board of Director with the collaboration of other board members to make CSUF an open and welcoming space to welcome others to their career path. This term would allow me to better represent my demographic background and the demographic backgrounds of others.
