Candidate Statement/Platform
Hello, my name is Amy Westen, and I’m running for the Board of Directors for Humanities and Social Sciences because I believe every student in our college deserves a strong advocate who will champion their ideas, needs, and success. As your representative, my mission is simple: to amplify your voice and turn it into action. Here’s what I plan to accomplish. First is by building stronger connections, as our college is full of diverse perspectives and talents. I will work to create more opportunities for students to connect—through inclusive events, networking with faculty, and collaborative spaces that celebrate the richness of Humanities and Social Sciences. Second is advocating for academic resources, as I will push for expanded tutoring programs, accessible study spaces, and affordable learning materials. Your education should never be limited by cost or lack of resources. Third is to prioritize mental health and well-being, as stress and burnout are real challenges. I will advocate for increased counseling availability, wellness workshops, and peer-support initiatives so every student feels supported both academically and personally. Fourth and final is transparency and communication because you deserve to know what ASI is doing for you. I will ensure clear communication through social media, newsletters, and open forums so your ideas and concerns are heard and acted upon.
Why Vote for Me? Because I’m committed to making sure your voice shapes the future of our college. Together, we can create a community that values inclusion, academic success, and student well-being.
