Associated Students Inc. and the Association for InterCultural Awareness (AICA) invites students to participate in Cal State Fullerton’s annual Culture Couture fashion show on Tuesday, April 22 at the Becker Amphitheater from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Culture Couture is an annual event by AICA that celebrates the fashion of CSUF’s diverse student community. AICA, part of ASI’s student programming, supports cultural organizations on campus by providing funding and promoting cultural awareness and representation.

“Fashion serves as a powerful platform for cultural expression that embodies protest, identity, heritage and tradition,” said AICA Chair Tanya Gonzales. “Culture Couture seeks to honor and celebrate diverse cultural narratives through a captivating event that includes a fashion show, live entertainment, performances and food.”

Culture Couture will include tabling and resources by more than 30 multicultural organizations to showcase their culturally traditional attire and fashion. Campus organizations in attendance will include the Iranian Student Association, M.E.Ch.A de CSUF, Muslim Tech Collaborative, Korean American Student Association and many more. Attendees can expect to receive food vouchers and enter an opportunity drawing for a chance to win prizes.

The first Culture Couture took place in 2013 and has been held annually since, expanding the venue to include a fashion show, cultural resources and food trucks.

“By continuing to have this event we are maintaining a tradition for our members and the students who attend our events,” Gonzales said. “Culture Couture was always set to be a celebration of diversity, creativity and cultural pride, even when it first began.”

Although Culture Couture is an annual event, each iteration offers a unique experience. Attendees will not want to miss the opportunity to witness the beauty of traditional cultural attire showcased by the diverse student body of CSUF.
