Game On! CSUF Students Face Rival CSULB in High-Stakes Valorant Tournament

Cal State Fullerton students can jump into action and showcase their gaming skills at Associated Students Inc.’s Titan Cup: Valorant esports tournament. Students will compete in a 5v5 team double elimination bracket. Teams will have the chance to advance to in-person finals to potentially face rival college teams, including longtime rival Cal State Long Beach.

Students can register from Oct.24 to Nov.7 by joining the ASI CSUF Esports Discord.

Registered players will compete in the online qualifier on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m., with advancing teams earning a spot in the in-person finals on Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Titan Student Union Esports Lounge.

Valorant, a tactical shooter where two teams face off in a first-to-13 format, is a staple Titan Cup event, drawing in esports teams from rival college campuses.

“Valorant is currently one of the biggest esports, and the biggest rising esports in history, so it is also one of the most played games on our campus and one of the most collegiately competitive games,” said Roby Ho, ASI Esports Student Assistant.

The tournament features two brackets: an open bracket for all ranks, and a rising bracket for Platinum 3 players and below; a structure designed to promote inclusivity.

“We have a rising bracket, which is for lower-ranked competitive players to still have a competitive environment, play against people of their skill base, have fun and be competitive,” said Ho.

Titan Cup: Valorant will showcase students’ passion for competitive online games, while offering them opportunities to connect, compete and show off Titan pride.
