06 Jan Lead the Race, Set the Pace: ASI Student Government Elections Promote Student Involvement and Voter Engagement
Cal State Fullerton students looking to gain hands-on leadership experience, represent their peers and have a voice in key campus decisions can apply to run in the 2026–2027 Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Student Government Elections. Applications are open from Jan. 5 through Feb. 10, and most positions include a stipend in recognition of the time and commitment involved. Applications are available on the ASI website.
Titans of all backgrounds, majors and levels of experience can participate in the election process, running as their college representative or as ASI President or Vice President.

“ASI would not be here without student leaders, students truly drive the work we do and shape the experience for current and future Titans,” said Rebecca Hesgard, ASI director of Student Government. “Every student voice matters; when students step into leadership, they’re not just representing themselves, they’re advocating for hundreds of others across campus.”
Student leaders play a vital role in advancing initiatives that directly impact the campus community, including shaping the ASI fiscal year budget, supporting the California Higher Education Student Summit (CHESS), advancing the ASI Student Wellness Initiative and expanding funding and programming for the ASI Food Pantry and Children’s Center.

“The ASI Student Wellness Initiative is a powerful example of student advocacy, from idea to approval,” said Hesgard. “Student leaders will continue to play a central role in its implementation for years to come.”
To ensure effective representation, applicants must meet eligibility requirements. Applicants must have completed at least one semester at CSUF and maintain a minimum semester GPA of 2.0.
Students must run in pairs for the following elected positions:
- ASI President
- ASI Vice President
Additionally, students can launch individual campaigns for college representatives from one of eight of the colleges in which they are currently enrolled:
- College of the Arts
- College of Business and Economics
- College of Communications
- College of Education
- College of Engineering and Computer Science
- College of Health and Human Development
- College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Elected leaders serve as advocates for student interests by allocating resources, developing initiatives and working to enhance the overall Titan experience.

“If you care about your community and want to make a difference, there is a place for you here,” said Hesgard. “Leadership looks different for everyone, you bring your own ideas, experiences and passions and that’s exactly what strengthens this organization.”
ASI also encourages all students to engage in the democratic process by learning about candidates on the ASI website, attending election-related events and casting their votes when polls open in March 2026.

“We actively seek students from every major, background and identity,” said Hesgard. “That diversity is what makes our student government reflective of our campus.”
