Hello Titans! My name is Hannah, and I’m a CAS major here at CSUF. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children ranging from 6 weeks old to 18 years old. Through my experiences, I’ve developed a deep passion for child and student advocacy and rights. I’ve always been told that I have a natural nurturing ability and am trusted with children, which helped me realize my calling at a young age. Being able to shape the next generation and witness the growth of young people who could one day make a difference has been an incredibly rewarding experience. However, with this rewarding work comes its own set of challenges. At times, we must push ourselves to face what’s ahead. I aspire to make a positive impact on those around me, whether in big or small ways. I hope to demonstrate my hard work and dedication in making a meaningful difference in your lives and the lives of future generations.
As a student applying for Board of Directors of the Health and Human Services Department at my college, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a field that has always been a passion of mine. I believe that health and human services are vital pillars of society, and being part of the board will allow me to actively engage in shaping initiatives that impact both the academic and real-world applications of the field. My goal is to bring a fresh perspective and a strong sense of commitment to the board, helping to foster positive change for the department. One of my primary objectives is to help enhance the department’s outreach and support for students. As a student myself, I understand the challenges many face in navigating their academic paths. I would like to collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure that students in health and human services programs have access to resources that can facilitate their success. This could involve developing mentorship programs, academic support services, and networking opportunities that help students connect with professionals in the field. I believe that fostering connections with experts in health and human services can provide students with valuable guidance and insight into career paths. Another focus for me is improving communication between students and faculty. As a member of the board, I would advocate for more interactive platforms for sharing ideas, resources, and experiences. One initiative could be the development of a digital forum where students can ask questions, share concerns, and offer suggestions directly to faculty or board members. Transparency in decision-making is essential, and I hope to ensure that students are consistently informed about updates, new initiatives, and opportunities available to them. I am particularly passionate about advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the department. Health and human services are inherently focused on helping diverse populations, and I believe that our department should reflect these values both in its curriculum and in the student body. By promoting inclusive practices, I hope to ensure that all students feel seen, heard, and supported, regardless of their background. This involves addressing disparities in access to resources, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented in course content, and creating safe spaces where students from underrepresented groups can thrive. Finally, I hope to contribute by bringing a student-centered approach to decision-making. I understand that the needs of students should always be a priority, and I want to ensure that the board’s initiatives align with student goals. By being a bridge between the students and the administration, I believe I can help create an environment that fosters growth, learning, and success. My goal as a board member of the Health and Human Services Department is to advocate for students, promote inclusivity, and build strong connections. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my energy and dedication to making a positive impact on the students.
