Emmanuel Donjuan
Seeking Candidacy for: Board of Directors, College of Engineering and Computer Science

Biography:

Hello! I’m Manny Donjuan, a third-year mechanical engineering major at CSUF with a focus on aerospace. As a peer mentor in the EOP program, I support firstgeneration students in their crucial first year, providing guidance to help them succeed in college. I also serve as the Vice President of External Relations for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, connecting members with industry leaders to boost their career development. In my role as Brotherhood Chair for Theta Tau, Phi Epsilon Chapter, I’ve cultivated a supportive community among our members. Additionally, as an Ambassador Intern with BRDG-Bridge to Connect, I offer mentorship and research opportunities to underserved, first-generation STEM students. My involvement in these organizations underscores my commitment to promoting community engagement, inclusivity and professionalism within the ECS college. As a first-generation student myself, I understand the feelings of isolation that can occur and am dedicated to enriching both the academic and social experiences for our community.

Statement/Platform:

As a candidate for the ASI Board of Directors, my primary goal is to foster an environment within the College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) at CSUF that is both academically enriching and socially engaging. Recognizing the challenges many of our students face in finding solid support systems, either academically or socially, I am committed to advocating for better academic ministrations such as tutoring services, career services, education programs and academic advising. As a first-generation student myself, I deeply understand the feelings of isolation and the array of challenges that our peers face. This insight drives my dedication to ensure that all students within our college receive a variety of professional and academic development opportunities within our college. Additionally, I aim to promote more community-building events that can help integrate our students more fully into campus life. I believe it is vital to empower student leadership by providing robust support for student organizations and initiatives. These programs will not only cultivate leadership skills but also enhance our college’s community spirit, making ECS at CSUF a thriving, supportive, and interconnected environment. Furthermore, I believe in the importance of transparency in leadership. It is crucial to advocate for our student body openly and honestly, ensuring that everyone is informed, involved, and empowered to shape their educational journey. This commitment to clarity and openness is the cornerstone of my campaign, as I strive to make a meaningful impact that resonates with all students within our community.
