Hello, everyone! My name is Maribel Chavez, and I am a business major planning to
concentrate in entrepreneurship. I started my own business in January 2024, a
dream I’ve worked hard to achieve. Balancing entrepreneurship with my studies
has taught me resilience, adaptability, and leadership—skills I bring into everything
I do.
Beyond business, I am also a dedicated tennis coach, where I work with high school
athletes to develop their skills and confidence on and off the court. Coaching has
reinforced my passion for mentorship and personal growth, in sports and beyond.
I am proudly Mexican and Guatemalan, and my culture is a huge part of who I am.
My heritage has shaped my values, work ethic, and deep appreciation for my family
and community. The hard work and sacrifices of my immigrant parents inspire me
every day, pushing me to pursue my goals with determination and pride.
Additionally, I’m preparing for a study abroad experience, eager to embrace new
perspectives and opportunities that will shape my future. Studying abroad will give
me the opportunity to immerse myself in new cultures, gain a global perspective on
business and entrepreneurship, and grow both personally and professionally by
stepping out of my comfort zone.
If elected, I will work to keep students informed, engaged, and included while
promoting equity, inclusion, and accessibility for all students. As a business major
and a small business owner, I understand how important it is to have access to the
right resources. I want to ensure that students take full advantage of all the
opportunities available on campus, from mentorship programs and networking
events to career development workshops and business resources.
I am passionate about helping students grow as leaders and professionals. Many
resources exist on campus, but not enough students know how to utilize them. I
want to bridge that gap by increasing awareness and making sure every
student—regardless of background—has the support they need to succeed in all
aspects of business and beyond. College is more than just earning a degree—it’s
about preparing for what comes next. I want to ensure that students feel careerready
and confident as they step into life after college.
As a proud Mexican and Guatemalan student, I also believe in the power of
diversity, representation, and community. I will advocate for initiatives that uplift
underrepresented voices and create a more inclusive, welcoming campus where
everyone feels valued and supported.
Most importantly, I want to be a leader who listens, takes action, and drives
meaningful change. I understand that leadership is not just about making decisions
but about truly hearing and representing the diverse needs of the student body. By
actively engaging with students, seeking feedback, and acting on their concerns, I
aim to ensure that every student feels heard and supported.
By fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and empowerment, we can create a
community where success is not just a possibility, but a reality for every student!
Empower, Achieve, Succeed—Together!
