Banda Night: ASI Honors Hispanic Heritage Month with Music and Community

Students of all backgrounds and music interests can celebrate the vibrant music of Hispanic culture at Associated Students Inc.’s (ASI) Banda Night on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at the Becker Amphitheatre.

Hosted in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Banda Night will include live music, dancing, free tacos, photobooths and student involvement, highlighting the importance of community and shared traditions.

“The purpose of Banda Night, especially this year, given the current social climate, is to create a space for culture,” said Grace Cazares, ASI Student Programs and Engagement student assistant. “It’s a space where the community can come together to celebrate Hispanic roots and build connections through resources and entertainment.”

Organized by ASI’s Student Programming and Engagement, the event partners with campus groups like Hermanos Unidos, Ballet Folklórico de CSUF, Latino Business Student Association, Sabor Latino, Mariachi Titans and M.A.S Familia, highlighting ASI’s mission of inclusivity and collaboration.

“For student organizations, Banda Night offers a unique opportunity to increase outreach,” said Cazares. “The event provides a platform for a dedicated group of students to share resources and stay engaged throughout the semester.”

Though rooted in Hispanic traditions, Banda Night welcomes all students and community members, fostering a space for cultural exchange, learning and connection.

“It opens the door to other cultural events on campus by encouraging cross-cultural learning and appreciation,” said Cazares.

The evening will also feature a live performance by Grupo Radar, cultural dance performances by Ballet Folklórico de CSUF, traditional food and engaging resource tables.

“Banda Night is a great way to engage with community,” said Rachel Robles, ASI Student Programs and Engagement student assistant. “There are so many different people here to engage with at CSUF. I think it’s really cool to be showcasing, as a Latina, my own culture and be a part of this.”

Banda Night reflects ASI’s dedication to cultural awareness, bringing people together through music, heritage and community.
