Inaugural Year for The Pantry was a Success

Last Fall, after years of discussion and planning, ASI officially opened, The Pantry, our permanent convenience-like store for the campus that is helping combat food insecurity among students.

Since opening, The Pantry has served over 1,587 individual students and provided service to more than 4,423 households. ASI secured $130,000 in annual funding from CSUF’s Division of Student Affairs which will help provide a full-time professional staff member, staff development opportunities, and supplemental food purchases.

The Pantry partners with Second Harvest Food Bank and their Grocery Rescue program, which provide weekly goods and with the CSUF Arboretum which provides fresh fruit and composting opportunities. In addition, this Spring, The Pantry was able to offer monthly diaper delivery to the ASI Children’s Center through a partnership with the OC Diaper Bank. The Children’s Center was then able to distribute these diapers for free to student and staff parents.

Lastly, in addition to its permanent food pantry location, The Pantry also hosted pop-up pantries on campus in the Fall and Spring semesters.

The Pantry is located in the Titan Student Union (TSU) near the Pavilion and Woolly Mammoth.
