Statement/Platform:

Hi Titans! My name is Ahmed Mohamed, and I’m running to represent the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) on the ASI Board of Directors. As a first-generation Egyptian-American college student and Chair of the NSM Inter-Club Council (ICC), I’ve reformed systems to empower clubs, improve accountability, and deliver value to students. My experience as a Registered Dental Assistant taught me the importance of solving challenges with care, precision, and teamwork—skills I’m ready to bring to this role. NSM students face challenges like limited resources, inconsistent teaching, and a lack of community. These issues require bold, data-driven solutions that balance faculty autonomy with fairness and structure. Here’s my plan to address these issues: 1.Improving Teaching Standards and Accountability: I’ll implement systems like anonymous surveys, peer reviews, and course coordinators to ensure consistent teaching quality across all sections. Great professors will be rewarded, and those facing challenges will receive constructive support to improve. 2.Creating Fairness Across Classes: By standardizing grading systems and aligning SI sessions with course content, we can ensure fairness across different sections while still preserving professors’ teaching autonomy. 3.Enhancing Academic Resources: I’ll advocate for more lab sections, better SI scheduling, and Learning Assistants (LAs) to provide peer-to-peer academic support. These changes will help students balance school, work, and life. 4.Increasing TA Support and Class Sections: Adding more Teaching Assistants will reduce grading bottlenecks, support professors, and allow for additional class sections to accommodate growing student demand. 5.Streamlining Logistics for Faculty: Professors should focus on teaching and mentoring, not administrative burdens. I’ll work to simplify logistical tasks so they can dedicate more time to their craft. 6.Hosting Town Halls to Hear Student Voices: I’m committed to regularly hosting town halls to give students a direct line to voice their concerns, ask questions, and propose solutions. These open forums will ensure that decisions reflect the needs and ideas of the NSM community. 7.Building a Stronger Community: I’ll leverage clubs and the ICC to foster collaboration and a sense of belonging. By providing resources and streamlining processes, we can create a vibrant and connected NSM. 8.Data-Driven Reforms: By consistently collecting feedback and analyzing trends, we’ll continuously evolve our systems to meet the needs of both students and faculty. This isn’t just about making small changes—it’s about building sustainable systems that will benefit NSM for years to come. My term may only last one year, but my vision is to leave a lasting legacy of fairness, innovation, and opportunity. Vote Ahmed Mohamed for NSM Board of Directors, and let’s create a Stronger NSM and a Brighter Tomorrow!
