As a second-year Civil Engineering student at CSUF, I bring a fresh perspective and strong desire to enhance the student experience within our college. My leadership experiences through extracurricular organizations have taught me valuable lessons about effective collaboration, team building, and the importance of representing diverse viewpoints. Through my positions of leadership, I have developed crucial skills in project management, communication, and problem-solving that I’m eager to apply to student government. These experiences have shown me the profound impact that dedicated leadership can have on improving community outcomes, inspiring me to seek greater involvement in campus governance. My genuine enthusiasm for connecting with fellow students and my commitment to being a strong voice for positive change. Fresh perspectives are vital for innovation, and I believe that I am that fresh perspective. I am eager to meet and exceed expectations and want to continue to advocate for the students at the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
I will work to bridge the gap between students and college administration. Too often, students feel disconnected from the decisions that directly impact their education. I plan to establish regular forums where students can voice their concerns and ideas directly to college leadership, ensuring that our voices are heard and considered in every decision that affects us. I also want to make sure that students feel safe and heard, so I would also like to create a method of gathering students in a town hall fashion, to keep constant and open dialogue within our ECS community. Advocating for expanded academic support resources is a top priority for me. As a civil engineering student, I know firsthand how demanding and complex technical coursework can be. Many students struggle to keep up with rigorous classes, and sometimes the available academic support isn’t enough to meet our needs. That’s why I will push to expand tutoring services, increase access to dedicated study spaces, and enhance peer support programs tailored specifically to the College of ECS. More specialized tutoring services in math, physics, and engineering-specific subjects can make a huge difference in student success, especially during midterms and finals when demand is highest. I will also work to create longer tutoring hours and more accessible locations so students can get help when they need it most. Additionally, I want to establish peer-led study groups and mentorship programs, where upperclassmen can support and guide newer students through the challenges of our rigorous programs. My Specific Goals: – Create a student feedback system to ensure student voices shape college initiatives. – Expand academic support services during high-stress exam periods. – Advocate for more flexible study spaces that accommodate students’ schedules. – Strengthen student-faculty connections for mentorship and academic success. – Promote cross-disciplinary collaboration to encourage innovation within engineering fields. I may be new to student government, but I bring fresh energy, new perspectives, and a commitment to action. I believe some of the best solutions come from those who look at challenges with fresh eyes, and I’m ready to be an accessible, responsive, and driven representative who listens to students and fights to turn their ideas into action.
