Anthony Eliopoulos
Seeking Candidacy for: Board of Directors, College of the Business and Economics

Biography:

Hi everybody! My name is Anthony Eliopoulos, and I’m a third-year finance
major from San Mateo County, CA. As a member of the University Honors Program
with a 3.6 GPA, my academic journey has ignited a passion for consulting and
finance as potential career paths. This upcoming summer, I will be working for
Protiviti as a consulting intern.

I’m extremely personable, possess excellent communication skills, and love
building relationships with my peers. As a full-time student with multiple
extracurriculars and high ambitions, I have developed strong time management
skills which will help me excel in this role. My professional experience in
management, as well as finance/accounting, has allowed me to build strong
analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as professional skills. My strongest
traits, which will prove to be beneficial in this position, are my leadership and
teamwork skills. I thrive in team environments and take pride in leading the teams
I’m involved with to success.

As an ASI Board Member, I aim to amplify other students’ voices, be an
advocate for their wants and needs, and lead the College of Business and
Economics to be the best it can be.

Statement/Platform:

The overarching goal of this position is to express students’ wants and needs
and put them in the best position to succeed. My plan to achieve that goal is as
follows: leverage CSUF’s professional network, enhance the promotion of existing
CSUF programs that students are currently underutilizing, introduce interactive
events to foster a sense of community within the College of Business and
Economics, and establish a direct channel for students to communicate their
priorities, needs, and concerns with me as well as other leaders.

CSUF’s College of Business and Economics is a powerhouse as it is the largest
business school on the West Coast and the second largest in the nation with its
10,000 concurrent students. The CBE boasts a global alumni network of over
50,000 people, who work in a range from associate-level to executive-level
positions in countless industries. By underutilizing a resource as valuable as a
network, students are selling themselves short. As a member of the Board of
Directors, I plan to take full advantage of this resource. First, I plan to increase the
participation of firms at our Business Career Fair through CSUF’s network in several
industries. I also plan to create a new workshop, similar to our “Resume Building
Workshop” focusing solely on how to network, where to network, and the benefits
of building a professional network.

CSUF has countless programs in place to help students succeed academically
and professionally. Some of my favorites include the Center for Internships &
Community Engagement, Business Career Services, and the Business Peer
Mentoring Program. There are several programs within the CBE that students
either aren’t aware of or aren’t aware of how beneficial they are. I plan to increase
the exposure of these programs and make students aware of what every program
has the power to do in order to properly utilize them.
As a way to further develop a sense of community among students of the
College of Business and Economics, I plan to host fun, interactive, and beneficial
events for students. An example of an event of this kind would be a networking
mixer with games, food, prizes, and other incentives to encourage participation and
attendance beyond professional development. Networking events can tend to feel
intimidating and monotonous, but I plan to make these inclusive and entertaining.

As an advocate for the student voice, I am committed to staying fully informed
about the student body’s evolving priorities, needs, and concerns. I intend to
establish a communication channel that allows students to share these priorities
with both myself and other leaders. An effective approach to staying current
involves leveraging social media platforms such as X ( formerly Twitter) and
Instagram to stay in touch and up to date with the student body.

By leveraging CSUF’s extensive professional network, promoting underutilized
student programs, creating interactive events to build community, and opening
direct channels for student feedback, I aim to position every College of Business
and Economics student for success.
