My name is Cindy Chavez, and I am a sophomore at California State University, Fullerton, majoring in political science. My longstanding passion for government relations and public policy has driven my focus on American government and international affairs. Last semester, I had the privilege of serving as the student representative for CSUF at the Panetta Institute for Public Policy, where I interned in Washington, D.C., during the fall semester. This experience provided me with invaluable insight into the legislative process and the qualities that define exceptional leadership. Currently, I am interning at my congressional representative’s district office, where I engage directly with constituents, address their concerns, and ensure they receive accurate information and resources. As a first-generation student, I understand the challenges that come with pursuing a degree. These obstacles have only fueled my determination to succeed and inspired me to uplift others on the same path. My educational experiences have contributed to my commitment to public service and have reinforced my belief that we can overcome any barrier and turn our dreams into reality!
If elected to the ASI Board of Directors, I will be deeply committed to ensuring that student voices are not only heard but are actively incorporated into the decisionmaking process. California State University, Fullerton is a vibrant and diverse community, one that welcomes students from all walks of life, backgrounds, experiences, and viewpoints. As your elected student representative for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, I will dedicate myself to creating spaces where all students have the opportunity to be heard, ensuring that your concerns shape the policies and decisions on campus. I understand that with different backgrounds and experiences, students face struggles like financial concerns, academic pressure, and navigating personal obstacles. At times, it can feel isolating, as if you are dealing with these issues alone. Yet, I find that we must work together as a community to share our diverse perspectives and support one another in these tough times. I will communicate these perspectives from students and faculty to ensure that there is a consensus in resolving individual and campus-wide issues. I am very passionate about helpling my fellow peers accomplish their educational goals to jumpstart a prosperous career. By advocating for increase academic resources and helping build stronger connections between students and faculty, I will work tirelessly to ensure every Titan has tools fit for their success. Education is not just about the students contribution to their academics, but also a foundation that permits everyone an equal opportunity for success. The goals outlined for my campaign are not just for the upcoming school year, but also a vision to help create a legacy that will positively impact academics and student life at CSUF. I’m determined in creating long-lasting changes that will help both present and future Titans. But I cannot do this without Titans who seek a positive change on campus for every student to thrive in. I need your support, voice, and experiences to envision a better CSUF where all students can accomplish their goals!
