2024 All Day ASI Showcases Collaboration and Resources

All Day ASI is an on-campus event where Associated Students, Inc. advocates and sets up booths for all ASI resources, departments, and events…all day long. Previously called “Block Party,” All-Day ASI has made its mark on campus. The event offers everything from graffitied t-shirts and free McDonald’s coffee to information on getting free groceries at The Food Pantry and activating an SRC gym membership.

The 2024 September 12 All Day ASI event was no different, proving more collaborative and successful than ever. Taking place at the start of every Fall semester and put together by ASI’s programming team, the day started off with high hopes and promising sunny weather. No other event of its kind takes place in spring or late fall. Unsurprisingly, students take advantage of this time to get plugged in.

With the resource fair taking place from 10 a.m.–1 p.m., titan bowl and billiards from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Student Recreation Center from 3 p.m.-5 p.m., and a concert with artist Warren Hui from 5 p.m.-9 p.m., the event lives up to its “all day” title.

“If a student comes out, not only will they get the free food, fun games, and fun prizes, but they’ll also be able to walk away with information about where they can start their first job on campus, find an opportunity to volunteer somewhere, or participate in ASI programs and events for the first time. It’s a great day for someone who’s looking to get involved with ASI or wants to work at the TSU, Rec Center, or Children’s Center. They can get all that information in a one-day event,” director for ASI programming and events Austin Ysais said.

Students walking out of the TSU are met with rows of pop-up tents, free giveaway prizes, personally crafted balloon animals, free Celsius and agua frescas and long lines of eager CSUF students.  You could stop by any booth and get information on how to sign up for Intramural sports at the SRC, get IT help or register for the Children’s Center free diaper program

“I heard about All Day ASI through social media. I love all the resources, especially the entertainment like the concert at night. Student government always really excites me. I like seeing what they’re doing on campus, student leaders representing us as students and hearing about their plans for this year,” CSUF student Aime Arellano remarked.

Any Titan in attendance would be able to witness ASI’s own student government leaders, as well as CSUF President Rochon walking through the crowd while admiring the splendor.

Behind the free giveaways, delicious food and possibility of a President Rochon spotting, All Day ASI is much more than meets the eye.

When it comes to ASI, students tend to amount it to student government, characterized by board meetings and giving speeches. What many students don’t know is that ASI is a trifold revealing all the dynamic departments and resources they offer. Did you know that included in ASI is the Student Recreation Center, The Children’s Center, the Food Pantry and the Titan Student Union?  Sabrina Carpenter night in the TSU, Jazz at the Becker, the ESports lounge in Titan Student Union;  it’s all a part of ASI.

“I wish more students knew that the food pantry is completely free. I feel a lot of people come in thinking that they have to go through financial aid and meet certain requirements to come in and that’s not true at all. As long as you’re a student here on campus, it’s completely free for you to use. This event pulls the curtain back and clears up those assumptions,” Food Pantry student assistant Kaylani Gildo said.

Thus, All Day ASI is more than just another festival where students can get free plushies and coffee. It’s a unique event that truly showcases all that ASI has to offer for the betterment of the student body.

All Day ASI is a Collaboration

While ASI is many things, one thing it is not is a stand-alone organization. ASI’s many departments and resources are made better by the students it serves and the campus it collaborates with.

This year was the first time ASI partnered with both the Latinx and Women’s Resource Center. In it, they provided valuable information and resources to anyone interested. Along with this, All Day ASI’s resource fair boasted info booths from the Girl Gains Lifting Club, Hermanas Unidas, Transfer Adult Re-entry Parenting and Pregnant Student Center, Mariachi Titans and so much more.

All Day ASI is a collaboration. A collaboration that ensures Titans have access to resources on all fronts, whether fitness, social, or career advancement.

Want to increase mental health resources on campus? Interested in getting a job over the summer as a marketing graphic designer? Want to take advantage of your SRC membership and attend a group exercise class before the sun rises?

As a student-led organization, this means that at the forefront of all ASI’s concerns is the student experience.

“I started working with ASI as a student employee for one whole year ago today. I’m an entertainment hospitality management major. Once I saw that ASI is really involved in creating events, I thought, Oh, I want to learn a lot about that!  This position has enabled me to do that,” a programming student employee remarked.

At the end of it all, many students find that All-Day ASI is truly an asset. After all, what better way for students to spend the first month of school getting plugged into resources and events tailored especially for them?

All Day ASI is for the students, by the students, and here to stay and evolve for the years to come.
