ASI Student Wellness Initiative Launches Six Programs to Support CSUF Student Organizations

Associated Students Inc.’s Student Wellness Initiative (ASWI) expands its reach this fall through the ASWI Student Club Support program – a series of grants and opportunities elevating Cal State Fullerton clubs and organizations.

The program introduces six new opportunities for student involvement, leadership, wellness and community – set to launch in increments throughout the 2026-27 academic year.

“We’re excited to see ASI’s influence on campus clubs and culture, a group of students and identities who are the heart of CSUF,” said ASI Student Government Coordinator Ashley Zazueta. “While our programs will influence their own reach and success, they’ll also be able to influence us interchangeably with their amazing ideas.”

The Club Establishment Seed Funding Initiative was introduced Sept. 25 to provide newly recognized student clubs and organizations with $500 in seed funding. The initiative is designed to support the early development and long-term sustainability of new organizations through recruitment and outreach efforts.

The next to launch on Oct.5, the ASWI Community Wellness Grant will award grants up to $5,000 to applicants with innovative, wellness-oriented initiatives. Clubs and organizations recognized by CSUF Student Life and Leadership (SLL) can apply for this grant on Wufoo and get more information on the ASI Website through Nov. 4.

In addition to monetary support, ASI will provide logistical support to ensure successful implementation, allowing clubs to see their ideas become a reality.

“Student leaders are very intentional about creating initiatives and programs that bring campus groups together while providing equal and inclusive access to students across campus,” said Zazueta. “We’re excited to collaborate with our diverse campus community and help make CSUF feel more like home.”

An essential part of the club engagement experience for students is attending enriching social and professional events. ASI will expand resources and funding for both on-campus and off-campus experiences through two programs.

The ASI Club Rental Support Investment will establish a central ASI-managed inventory for student organizations to utilize through a reservation and checkout system. From A/V equipment and outdoor lighting to tables and canopies, clubs can easily access event supplies rather than renting from external vendors starting Nov. 30.

“From my experience as a club president, one of the biggest challenges student organizations face is funding,” said ASI Board of Directors Chair Deniz Suzer. “Fundraising for a club is not always easy, especially when you’re first starting out. As student leaders, we want to focus our energy on creating meaningful opportunities for our members, but financial limitations can sometimes determine what we are able to accomplish. I think the ASWI Club Support program can help relieve some of that pressure.”

A centralized fund for off-campus travel opportunities will also be established through the ASI Travel Excellence & Access Monetary Support (TEAMS) on Feb. 12, 2027. ASI recognizes and aims to uplift student leadership beyond campus borders by providing increased access to participation in regional, national and professional conferences. TEAMS will expand ASI’s current travel funding policy to further support up to 30 individual students with $1,000 in new or additional travel support.

“Having the opportunity to travel and present research at conferences is incredibly valuable for students, but the cost of registration, flights, hotels, and other travel expenses can add up very quickly,” Suzer said. “Even when some funding is available, students can still be left responsible for a significant amount of the cost. I think TEAMS can help alleviate some of the costs associated with these opportunities and ensure that more students have the chance to participate rather than having to miss out.”

Further supporting student excellence is ASI’s Tuffy Awards Support. Hosted by SLL each spring, the Tuffy Awards recognize the accomplishments of student organizations across 12 categories, 10 of which currently include monetary prizes. Additional funding from ASI will expand monetary prizes to all 12 categories, each receiving a $1,000 award.

Expanding the program across campus, ASI Elections Club Fundraising will give Titans the opportunity to support student clubs and organizations through the ASI elections ballot. For every vote cast, $1 will be allocated to a student organization of the voter’s choice, with funding available for up to 10,000 votes. Applications for student organizations to participate will open Jan. 4, 2027.

“Students elected each spring become advocates for their peers and help shape the campus experience in the year ahead,” said Zazueta. “By adding clubs to the ballot, we hope to not only increase voter engagement but also bring student organizations together to participate in one of ASI’s biggest annual events.”

As part of ASWI, these six programs all focus on the wellbeing and success of students at CSUF. They utilize student organizations—an environment where students already build identity, support, and leadership—to advance multiple dimensions of wellness.

Each program was developed with students’ needs at the forefront, informed by extensive research and surveys conducted by ASI’s Student Government team.

ASI student leaders and professional staff look forward to the enhancements the ASWI Student Club Support program will provide towards the innovation, engagement, and success of student clubs and organizations, influencing the broader CSUF community.
