25 Feb ASI’s “Vibrance” Lights Up Black History Month at CSUF
Cal State Fullerton students, staff and community members interested in celebrating Black History Month can attend Associated Students Inc.’s “Vibrance,” a vibrant cultural event taking place on Feb. 25 at the Titan Student Union Pavilion A & B from 3-5 p.m., featuring live performances, music, Black-owned student and community vendors and activities that honor and celebrate Black culture.
“ Student Programming and Engagement chose to host ‘Vibrance’ to intentionally center and celebrate Black culture and excellence as an essential and influential part of our campus community,” said Anthony Thomas, ASI Student Programming student. “Black history, creativity, and resilience have shaped music, fashion, art, language, and social justice movements all around the world, yet these contributions are often underrepresented or only acknowledged during limited moments in the academic year.”

By cultivating a space for open dialogue and cultural pride, “Vibrance” seeks to honor the contributions of Black culture and history.
“’Vibrance’ was planned in collaboration with campus partners who are committed to diversity, inclusion, and student engagement,” said Thomas.
With a focus on spotlighting student organizations on campus, “Vibrance” will feature the African American Resource Center (AARC), Diversity Initiatives and Resource Center (DIRC), Black Student Union (BSU), Divine Nine, Nigerian Student Association and more.
“Honoring and celebrating Black history and culture is essential to fostering an inclusive campus where all students feel seen, valued and respected,” said Thomas. “Black history is American history, and recognizing it helps promote understanding, equity and community connection.”

As “Vibrance” marks the beginning of a new cultural celebration within ASI, it joins other ASI events that honor culture and heritage throughout the year, including AICA Multicultural Week, Banda Night and Dia de los Muertos Celebration.
As CSUF continues to grow as a diverse institution, ranking No. 3 in the nation for awarding bachelor’s degrees to underrepresented students. “Vibrance” remains essential in affirming student identities and celebrating the differences that strengthen CSUF.
